City of Caves (Nottingham)
City of Caves is a most unusual but very popular tourist attraction in the city of Nottingham.
It takes advantage of the fact that the whole city is honeycombed with natural caves, many of which have been put to use by man. There are famous caves, including Mortimer's Hole, beneath Nottingham Castle.
The entrance to City of Caves is in the Broad Marsh Centre, one of Nottingham's two large indoor shopping centres, which is built into the side of a cliff.
The route includes a mediaeval tannery, beer cellars, air raid shelters and the remains of Drury Hill, one of the most historic streets in the city.
