Newport Castle (Newport (Gwent))

Newport Castle consists of scanty ruins beside the River Usk at Newport (Gwent).

The castle was originally built in the 12th century, and succeeded by another which was sacked by Owain Glyndwr.

Today three towers and a curtain wall remain from 14th century building work.

It was used for many years as a brewery.

Newport Castle is in the care of Cadw.
