St. Mary`s Church (Newport (Essex))

St. Mary`s Church is the parish church of the small town of Newport (Essex).

It is set back, away from the main road, built of flint and largely dates from the 15th century.

The church is a large one, and was originally collegiate.

The impressive West tower was built in 1858, but there is 13th century and 14th century work in the chancel.

There is a fine 13th century chest.
