Castle Square (Ludlow)
Castle Square is the focal point for trade in the old Shropshire town of Ludlow.
Sited just outside the entrance to the historic Ludlow Castle, it is now the site of a busy open air market.
It was the Western end of the mediaeval High Street. Market infill has now divided most of the street into three narrow parallel streets, one of which carries the coaches that come into the town.
On the South side of Castle Square is Castle Lodge, a stone house that dates back to the 14th century.
