Melford Hall (Long Melford)

Melford Hall is a historic house at Long Melford in Suffolk.

It is situated at the North end of the long village street.

The hall dates from the Elizabethan period, and has distinctive pepper pot turrets, which can be seen from the main road.

Elizabeth I was entertained here in 1578, and Beatrix Potter was a frequent visitor.

In the garden are some spectacular specimen trees, as well as a banqueting house.

Melford Hall is now in the care of the National Trust.
