London Zoo (London)
The London Zoo is possibly the best known zoo in the world.
It is situated within Regents Park in London, in the Northern part of the park towards Camden Town.
The zoo is run by the Zoological Society of London, who also operate Whipsnade Zoo. This is a charity devoted to the worldwide conservation of animals and their habitats.
Some of the highlights are Gorilla Kingdom and the Clore Rainforest Lookout, where visitors can watch exotic animals including tamarins and marmosets roaming freely, while they are themselves walking around a humid canopy.
There is also Butterfly Paradise and the only hummingbirds in Britain.
Beside the Regents Canal is the amazing giant birdcage constructed by Lord Snowdon.
London Zoo was opened in 1828.
