Holywells Park (Ipswich)

Holywells Park is a historic urban park at Ipswich.

The main entrance is in Cliff Lane.

A 70 acre site, Holywells Park is roughly triangular in shape. It comprises a bowl shaped valley with a wooded rim.

The park has a complex history stretching back to the 11th century, and contains a string of ponds which served the Tolly Brewery.

Some of the buildings and woodland areas feature in a painting by Thomas Gainsborough (from nearby Sudbury) of 1748.
