Maister House (Hull)
Maister House is a historic house in Hull.
It is situated in the High Street.
The Maister merchant family had a house and business in the High Street, but in 1743 a fire burned the building down. Henry Maister`s wife, daughter and two servants lost their lives in the fire, while Henry himself lived on for another eighteen months.
His brother had a new house built. It had a Palladian exterior and an extraordinarily rich interior, with a staircase partly the work of Lord Burlington.
The building is now used as offices, but is owned by the National Trust , who allow access to view the stairwell.
