Clock Tower (Herne Bay)
The Clock Tower is the most prominent building in the seaside resort of Herne Bay in Kent.
It is situated on the promenade, where it makes a striking and jolly focus.
The Clock Tower was built by Edward J. Dangerfield in 1837, and rises to 80 feet.
It is built of Portland stone and has four stages, raised on seven steps. it has a square ground stage, with Greek Doric columns in groups of three at the corners, then a stage with overlarge Corinthian columns, then a pedimented cube finished off with an octagonal dome.
