Manor House (Hemingford Grey)
The Manor House is a very old house at Hemingford Grey in Cambridgeshire.
It is situated beside the River Great Ouse and is accessed by a small gate on the riverside footpath.
The house was built about 1130 and is probably the oldest inhabited house in Britain. It has Norman stone walls, windows and a chimney piece.
The author Lucy Boston lived at the Manor House, and set her Green Knowe children`s stories here. On display is her patchwork collection, and there is a four acre garden which she laid out. This is surrounded by a moat, and has award winning irises, old roses and topiary.
