Hardwick Old Hall (Hardwick)

Hardwick Old Hall is a large ruined house at Hardwick in Derbyshire.

It was the birthplace in 1520 of the famous Bess of Hardwick, the richest woman in England after Elizabeth I.

Bess made innovative alterations to the house, which was completed in 1591, before having the later Hardwick Hall built.

Hardwick Old Hall is now in the care of English Heritage.
