Ranger`s House (Greenwich)
The Ranger`s House is a historic house at Greenwich.
It is situated in Chesterfield Walk.
The house was built around 1700 by Francis Hosier, who wanted a good view of the ships on the River Thames.
On Hosier`s death in 1727, it passed to Lord Chesterfield, but most of its treasures were later sold by a cousin, to pay for his gambling debts.
After being used in the 19th century to house minor royalty, it was purchased by London County Council in 1902, for sporting facilities.
It has now been restored by English Heritage and houses a fine collection of Jacobean portraits.
