Village Green (Finchingfield)
The Village Green is the focal point of Finchingfield in Essex, and the main reason for its status as England's most photographed village.
Brian Bailey's book on the subject of village greens lists Finchingfield among England's Top Ten, along with two, Cavendish and Long Melford, just over the border in Suffolk.
The usual view shows the green rising either side of the duckpond, formed by a tributary of the River Pant. The road crosses over the pond, and there is a white fence and plenty of ducks.
Above the green are picturesque cottages, and peeping over these are the tower and cupola of St. Johns Church.
