Water Treatment Works (Eastbourne)

The waste water treatment works at Eastbourne have a major visual impact on the seafront.

The design is most interesting. Although built in brown brick, the building is based on the Martello Towers, which were built around the coast, from Suffolk to Sussex, as a defensive measure at the time of the Napoleonic Wars.

An unpopular subject has been transformed into not much less than a tourist attraction.
