Durham Station serves the outstanding cathedral city of Durham.
There are superb views of Durham Cathedral from the station and the nearby viaduct.
Trains run to Durham from Kings Cross Station in London, via Huntingdon, Peterborough, Newark, Grantham, Doncaster and York.
The line continues to Newcastle-on-Tyne, Berwick-on-Tweed and Edinburgh.
There was formerly a complicated system of lines serving many local towns and villages, including Bishop Auckland and Sunderland.
