Andrew Carnegie Birthplace Museum (Dunfermline)
The Andrew Carnegie Birthplace Museum is an interesting building in Dunfermline.
It is situated on the corner of Moody Street and Priory Lane.
A poor weaver`s cottage, this is the birthplace of Andrew Carnegie in 1835. He emigrated with his parents to Pennsylvania, where he rose to great wealth and influence through his flair in the iron and steel industries.
Becoming a great philanthropist, Carnegie made millions of dollars worth of gifts in Britain and America, in particular many libraries and Carnegie Hall.
The weaver`s cottage is now a museum of Carnegie`s life, achievements and benefactions.
