Roman Painted House (Dover)

The Roman Painted House is a historic attraction at Dover in Kent.

It is situated in New Street.

The house was discovered in 1970.

It was built about 200 AD as a hotel for official travellers, and has impressive wall paintings and central heating systems.

The wall of the Roman fort was built through the house.
