Lilly`s Cottage (Diseworth)
Lilly`s Cottage is a prominent building in the centre of Diseworth in Leicestershire, at the corner of Hallgate and Ladygate.
It dates from the 16th century and is cruck framed with close studding.
The house was the birthplace in 1602 of the notorious astrologer William Lilly, who also dabbled in magic. While publicly supporting Parliament in the Civil War, he took part in an abortive attempt to free Charles I from Carisbrooke Castle.
The Baptists used Lilly`s House for early meetings.
