Siege House (Colchester)
The old Siege House is one of the most famous, as well as most picturesque, buildings in the ancient Essex town of Colchester.
It stands at the bottom of East Street, well outside the Roman Walls and close to the River Colne.
This timber framed house was built about 1500.
On the frontage are marks, now highlighted, caused by the bombardment during the long Siege of Colchester in 1648.
There are a number of other picturesque houses from a similar period close by.
