The Downs (Clifton)
The Downs is a large urban park at Clifton, near Bristol.
It consists of Clifton Down and Durdham Down, covering 440 acres.
There are large areas of grassland and magnificent trees, and wonderful views over the Avon Gorge and Clifton Suspension Bridge.
Because of the unusual conditions in this location, plants which died out in the rest of the country 10,000 years ago have survived here.
