Roman Remains (Cirencester)

[An image showing Roman Remains]The Roman remains at Cirencester are among the least known aspects of this historic market town in Gloucestershire.

Cirencester was an important Roman town, second only in size to London amongst settlements in Britain.

Today, a grassed over amphitheatre remains on the outskirts of the town, but these remains are much closer to the town centre.

A part of the town wall, they are situated in Abbey Gardens, an attractive public park on the site of the powerful Cirencester Abbey.
