The Pallant (Chichester)
The Pallant is an attractive area in the old cathedral city of Chichester.
Four roads - North Pallant, South Pallant, East Pallant and West Pallant - form a cross - in the South Eastern quadrant of the city.
The name comes from the fact that the Archbishop of Canterbury once had a palantine here, giving him exclusive jurisdiction over the area.
Pallant House is now used as an art gallery.
