Tullie House (Carlisle)
Tullie House houses the City Museum and Art Gallery for Carlisle.
Generally regarded as one of the finest museums in the North of England, it is contained within a fine Jacobean house. It opened in 1893, and an extension was opened in 1990.
The Museum includes Roman and Celtic artefacts, displays on the history of Carlisle, and features on the Reivers and the Debatable Lands of the shifting English-Scottish borders.
There is a fine collection of British paintings, and Robert Williamson's collection of porcelain, from the major English factories such as Derby, Worcester and Spode.
