Thringstone

Thringstone is a former mining village in Leicestershire, 2 miles from Coalville.

Together with Whitwick, with which it is coterminous, Thringstone sits on the fault line betwwen the coal seams and the granite of Charnwood Forest.

St. Andrew`s Church was built in 1862, and is the burial place of John Gee, the youngest victim of the Whitwick Colliery disaster.

Just off the attractive Green is Bauble Yard, formerly the centre of the local bauble making industry.

Near Thringstone are the romantic ruins of Grace Dieu Priory.
