Thornton
Thornton is a village in Leicestershire, 5 miles from Coalville and on the edge of Charnwood Forest.
St. Peter's Church dates back to about 1300. It has a 15th century tower, while the chancel was built in 1864. There is a heavy South door which is believed to have come from Ulverscroft Priory.
Thornton Reservoir is very beautiful, and popular with walkers. There is a path all around the reservoir. It was constructed in 1853, and was the first reservoir designed to serve the needs of Leicester.
Blue Badge Guide Colin Crosby is available to lead Guided Walks around Thornton for groups.
