Pitsea
Pitsea is an old town in Essex, a few miles to the West of Southend and now part of Basildon New Town.
It is close to the marshes which run down to the River Thames.
St. Michael`s Church, high on a hill overlooking the town, was rebuilt after a fire in 1871, while the West tower dates from about 1500. It is mostly now demolished, but the tower has been saved, thanks to the Orange mobile phone company, who find it very useful.
Blue Badge Guide Colin Crosby is available to lead Guided Walks around Pitsea for groups.
