Norchard

Norchard is a small place to the North of Lydney in Gloucestershire.

It is situated beside the little River Lyd, in the Forest of Dean.

There was a colliery here, through which ran the Severn and Wye Railway, established as a horse drawn narrow gauge tramway in 1809, and later part of the railway network.

Norchard is now the headquarters of the Dean Forest Railway, which runs on part of the old railway and is operated by enthusiastic volunteers.
