Ledbury
Ledbury is an attractive old market town in Herefordshire, 12 miles from Hereford.
St. Michael`s Church, approached along the picturesque and narrow Church Lane, has Norman features and a detached bell tower with a slender spire.
Church Lane also contains two museums of local history, and another house with an upper storey painted room.
The timber framed Market Hall dates from the 17th century, and stands on its sixteen wooden pillars in the broad Market Place.
Opposite are the almshouses of St. Katharine`s Hospital, which retain their 14th century chapel.
There are several fine timber framed buildings in the regional black and white style, notably the Feathers inn.
John Masefield, the former Poet Laureate ("I must go down to the sea again"), was born at Ledbury.
Blue Badge Guide Colin Crosby is available to lead Guided Walks around Ledbury for groups.
