Kettering

Kettering is a busy town in Northamptonshire, 13 miles from Northampton, and is now served by the A14 road which runs from the East Midlands to East Anglia.

The traditional industry here is boot and shoe manufacture.

The parish church has an elegant spire.

The Alfred East Gallery has a fine collection opf works by the local artist Alfred East.

The Baptist Missionary Society was founded in Kettering by William Carey and some of his friends.

On the outskirts of town is the jolly Wicksteed Park, an area of parkland with a lake, which also has a good collection of children's rides. The Wicksteed company makes swings, slides etc for children's playgrounds, and this is a fine shop window. A little train runs around the park.

Blue Badge Guide Colin Crosby is available to lead Guided Walks around Kettering for groups.
