Illston-on-the Hill
Illston-on-the-Hill is a village in Leicestershire, 3 miles from Great Glen.
It is on the edge of the area known as High Leicestershire, with footpaths leading to nearby villages, and close to the Via Devana (known locally as the Gartree Road), which ran from Leicester to Colchester.
St. Michael`s Church is of mediaeval date, and built of the local ironstone.
A red telephone box, no longer in use, has been taken over by the parish council, and now contains a map and local iformation.
