Hawkwell
Hawkwell is a village in Essex, two miles from Rochford but closer to Hockley, with which it is now contiguous.
The little St. Mary's Church dates back to the 14th century and has a slightly later weatherboarded belfry and spire.
Hockley Woods, a considerable remnant of the great Essex Forest, comes right up to Hawkwell, and includes the Scouting campsite known as Belchamps.
Ironwell Lane is now a bridleway, but was once part of the main coach road from Southend to London. Today it forms a pleasant rural walk between Rochford and Hawkwell.
Blue Badge Guide Colin Crosby is available to lead Guided Walks around Hawkwell for groups.
