Hardingstone

Hardingstone is a village in Northamptonshire, which is now effectively an outer suburb of Northampton.

In mediaeval times there was an abbey here known as Delapre Abbey, and it was here that the body of Eleanor of Castile, wife of Edward I, rested on its way to Westminster Abbey in 1290.

The imposing Eleanor Cross beside the road here is one of only three of these amazing monuments to survive. The others are at Geddington and Waltham Cross.

Blue Badge Guide Colin Crosby is available to lead Guided Walks around Hardingstone for groups.
