Great Stretton
Great Stretton is a former village in Leicestershire, 2 miles from Great Glen.
It is situated, as the name implies, on a Roman road, in this case the Via Devana which ran from Leicester to Colchester, and which is known locally as the Gartree Road.
The isolated St. Giles Church is mediaeval, but was largely rebuilt in the 19th century using ironstone.
Close to the church are the humps and bumps of the deserted mediaeval village.
