Grassington
Grassington is a picturesque stone built village in the Yorkshire Dales, 8 miles from Skipton and on the River Wharfe.
The village grew in the late 18th century, resulting from the extensive mining of lead in the area.
The parish church is nearly a mile away at Linton, but regular services are held at the hall known as the church centre in the village itself, where narrow streets meet in a little cobbled square.
The bridge over the Wharfe is largely mediaeval, and Grassington Hall dates from the 13th century.
Grassington has its Feast Sports in October, and famous torchlight parade just before Christmas.
