Gotham is a village in Nottinghamshire, 6 miles from Loughborough.
It is pronounced "Goatum".
St. Lawrence`s Church dates back to the 13th century.
The village is famous for tales of the Wise Men of Gotham, who feigned stupidity in order to dissuade King John from coming to the village and building a hunting lodge.
The name was taken for Gotham City, where Batman and Robin perennially fight evil.
