Elvaston is a village in South Derbyshire, 4 miles from Derby.
Elvaston Castle is a most impressive 19th century house designed by James Wyatt.
The grounds now function as a very attractive public park, with fine topiary, and some of the estate buildings constitute a museum of how estate life would have been just before the First World War.
The parish church has an interesting Stanhope memorial from 1610.
Elvaston Cricket Club is one of the finest village teams in England.
