Eastwood (Essex)
Eastwood is a village in Essex, on the edge of Southend, and roughly halfway between Southend and Rayleigh, being around 3 miles from each.
It is now on the edge of Southend Airport, with its attendant noise and low flying aircraft.
The pretty St. Laurence and All Saints Church is of Norman origin, with 12th century doors, and has a weatherboarded tower and spire.
There are delightful walks through wooded countryside to Rochford and Hockley.
The "wood" in the name points out that most of Essex was, in the Middle Ages, covered in forest.
Blue Badge Guide Colin Crosby is available to lead Guided Walks around Eastwood (Essex) for groups.
