Danbury
Danbury is a long, straggling but picturesque village on a hilltop in Essex, 5 miles from Chelmsford.
It is the second highest point in the county, rising to 400 feet, and there are good views over the estuary of the River Blackwater. There are several greens.
St. John the Baptist Church dates largely from the 14th century, and has wooden effigies of mediaeval knights. The church is set within an earthwork
The Griffin Inn is a 16th century timber framed building.
Danbury Common is now a country park.
