Benwell
Benwell is a district of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, to the West of the city.
It is on Hadrian`s Wall, and was known in the Roman period as Condercum.
Surrounded by a housing estate, there are two preserved fragments of Roman building. One is the vallum crossing, while the other is a temple dedicated to the otherwise unknown Celtic god Antenociticus.
The popular TV series for teenagers "Byker Grove", while set in Byker, was actually filmed at Benwell.
