Bearsted
Bearsted is an attractive village in Kent, 2 miles from Maidstone.
The correct pronunciation is "Beer-sted".
Holy Cross Church has a 15th century tower with lions carved on the battlements. On either side of the porch are a grapevine and a fig tree.
The large Green has a fine, open nature, and has been much used for cricket.
The White Horse Inn, on a corner of the Green, is dated 1680.
