Wiltshire Tour (A Coach Trip in Wiltshire)
"Wiltshire Tour" is one of the popular Coach Trips devised and led by Blue Badge Guide Colin Crosby, of Colin Crosby Heritage Tours.
These excursions are an excellent way of soaking up some Local History.
This is a tour around the Southern county of Wiltshire, with its ancient towns, chalk plains and famous prehistoric remains.
The coach leaves St. Margarets Bus Station in Leicester at 8am, and is due to return at about 9pm.
Colin gives his usual commentary along the way, pointing out places of interest and interpreting their background and history in a way whih makes his trips quite unique.
There are three stops of about an hour each.
Marlborough has a mediaeval church at each end of its very wide High Street, and is traditionally where the great wizard Merlin is imprisoned in a hillside.
Warminster has a special fame as the UFO capital of England.
Malmesbury has the oldest charter of any English town, and has the church where King Athelstan was buried.
There is also a short stop at Avebury, the village which is enclosed by a massive stone circle.
