Tewkesbury (A Coach Trip in Tewkesbury)
"Tewkesbury" is a Coach Trip devised and led by the well known Blue Badge Guide Colin Crosby, of Colin Crosby Heritage Tours.
These trips are an ideal way of soaking up some Local History.
The coach leaves St. Margarets Bus Station in Leicester at 8am, and is due to arrive back about 9.30pm.
Colin gives his inimitable commentary along the way, as the coach passes though the lovely English countryside to Tewkesbury, a historic market town in Gloucestershire, on the edge of the Cotswolds.
The magnificent Tewkesbury Abbey can be seen from far away, and from the motorway is often mistaken for a cathedral. Tewkesbury was the scene of one of the decisive battles of the Wars of the Roses, and has a superb collection of picturesque black and white buildings..
One of the unique features of Colin's excursions to historic towns is his Guided Walk. On the walk around Tewkesbury he will be pointing out many places of interest, including the Abbey, the Old Baptist Chapel, Royal Hop Pole Hotel, the House of the Nodding Gables and a row of tiny 15th century shops.
The trip takes place on Market Day, which adds an extra dimension to the proceedings.
