Tamworth and Lichfield (A Coach Trip in Staffordshire)
"Tamworth and Lichfield" is a Coach Trip devised and led by Blue Badge Guide Colin Crosby, of Colin Crosby Heritage Tours.
These excursions are a most enjoyable way of soaking up some Local History.
The coach leaves St. Margarets Bus Station in Leicester City Centre at 9am, and returns about 7.30pm.
It is a two stop tour, visiting Tamworth and Lichfield, two very interesting old towns in Staffordshire, with Colin giving his customary informative commentary along the way.
Tamworth, dominated by the impressive Tamworth Castle, is an old market town that was once the capital of the Anglo-Saxon Kingdom of Mercia.
Lichfield is famous for its iconic Lichfield Cathedral, the only mediaeval English cathedral with three spires, and is also well known as the birthplace of Dr. Samuel Johnson.
