Suffolk Tour (A Coach Trip in Suffolk)
"Suffolk Tour" is one of the many Coach Trips devised and led by the well known Blue Badge Guide Colin Crosby, of Colin Crosby Heritage Tours.
These excursions are an excellent way of soaking up some Local History.
The tour is around the lovely county of Suffolk, wih its picturesque countryside, timeless villages and traditional market towns. Together wih neighbouring Essex, this is the England you always knew must still exist somewhere. It's here.
The coach leaves St. Margarets Bus Station in Leicester City Centre at 8am, and is due back about 9.30pm.
A feature of Colin's excursions is that he gives a commentary about the interesting places along the route, making the trips unique.
There are three stops, of about an hour each.
Lavenham is a small town that is one of the showplaces of England. With its many timber framed and colour washed houses, its ancient Guildhall in the hidden Market Place and the stately St. Peter and St. Paul Church, it is a town that everybody should visit.
Ipswich is the largest town in Suffolk. There is a fine collection of mediaeval churches, busy docks on the River Orwell and the splendid Christchurch Mansion.
Bury St. Edmunds is a busy market town. Bury St. Edmunds Cathedral is on the site of the powerful Abbey, while the Nutshell is believed to be England's smallest pub.
There are also two shorter stops, where cameras will be very useful. Kersey has a famous watersplash, and Cavendish is one of the most photographed villages in England.
