St. Albans Festival (A Coach Trip in St. Albans)
"St. Albans Festival" is one of the Coach Trips devised and led by the well known Blue Badge Guide Colin Crosby, of Colin Crosby Heritage Tours.
These excursions are an excellent way of soaking up some Local History.
The coach leaves St. Margarets Bus Station in Leicester at 8am, and is due back about 9pm.
Colin gives his normal commentary along the way, bringing to life the interesting sights and places encountered along the route. This is one of the aspects that make Colin`s trips unique.
St. Albans is a very historic old cathedral city, which dates back to Roman times. There are extensive ruins of the Roman town, named Verulamium, just outside the existing City Centre, and St. Albans Abbey is built on the site of the execution of St. Alban, Britain`s first Christian martyr.
The Festval celebrates the saint himself and the city named in honour of him.
Those taking part can follow the brightly coloured and impressive procession from the old Roman town and past the lake, finishing at the Abbey, where there are services.
Alternatively, of course, they can look around this highly interesting and historic old town, with its many attractive old buildings.
Either way, it is an outstanding trip.
