Southwell and Newark (A Coach Trip in Nottinghamshire)
"Southwell and Newark" is a Coach Trip devised and led by Blue Badge Guide Colin Crosby, of Colin Crosby Heritage Tours.
These excursions are an excellent way of soaking up some Local History.
The coach is due to leave St. Margarets Bus Station in Leicester City Centre at 9am, and to return about 7.30pm.
This is a two stop tour, visiting two interesting towns, with Colin Crosby giving his usual informative commentary along the way.
Both Southwell and Newark are in Nottinghamshire, close to Sherwood Forest, famous for its Robin Hood connections.
Southwell is dominated by the wonderful Southwell Minster, the Anglican cathedral for the Nottinghamshire area, and has many other attractive and historic buildings.
Newark has a strategically important position where the Fosse Way crossed the Great North Road beside the River Trent. The imposing Newark Castle is where King John died, while St. Mary's Church can be seen for miles and the Market Place is one of the largest in the land.
