South Downs Tour (A Coach Trip in Sussex)
The "South Downs Tour" is one of the Coach Trips devised and led by the well known Blue Badge Guide Colin Crosby, of Colin Crosby Heritage Tours.
These excursions are a lovely way to soak up some Local History.
The coach leaves St. Margarets Bus Station in Leicester City Centre at 8am, and is expected back about 9pm.
This is an "Autumn Colours Tour", designed to show off the trees in their Autumnal finery of russet and gold.
There are three stops, of about an hour each.
Petersfield is an attractive market town which was an important stop on the old road from London to Portsmouth.
Arundel is dominated by its magnificent castle, and also has a Catholic cathedral.
Chichester is a historic cathedral city, dating back to the Roman period, and retaining long stretches of mediaeval City Walls.
There is also an additional stop at Bosham, on an inlet of the sea and with a church that is featured on the Bayeux Tapestry.
Colin gives his inimitable commentary as the coach wends its way along the route. This is one of the features that makes his tours unique.
