Peak and Pennines Tour (A Coach Trip in Yorkshire)
"Peak and Pennines Tour" is one of the very popular Coach Trips devised and led by Blue Badge Guide Colin Crosby, of Colin Crosby Heritage Tours.
These excursions are a very good way of picking up some Local History.
This tour is around the region where the Peak District meets the Pennines, with often rugged scenery. It is mostly in Yorkshire but partly in Derbyshire.
The coach leaves St. Margarets Bus Station in Leicester at 8am, and is due to get back about 9pm.
Colin gives his customary commentary along the way, bringing to life the places and sights encountered along the route in his own inimitable style. This is one of the aspects that make Colin`s trips unique.
There are three stops, each of about an hour.
Haworth is best known as the home of the Bronte sisters, who lived with their father while he was the parson. It is also where "The Railway Chidren" was filmed.
Holmfirth is an industrial town beside the River Holme, and is well known as the setting for "Last of the Summer Wine".
Castleton is a picturesque small town overlooked by the remains of the Norman Peveril Castle.
