National Forest Tour (A Coach Trip in Leicestershire)

"National Forest Tour" is a Coach Trip devised and led by the well known Blue Badge Guide Colin Crosby, of Colin Crosby Heritage Tours.

These trips are an excellent way of getting to know some Local History.

Thisis one of the morning tours, which are much appreciated by people who would rather not be out all day.

The coach leaves St. Margarets Bus Station in the centre of Leicester at 9.30am, and is due back about 2pm.

The format for these trip is that one stays on the coach all the time, while Colin gives his inimitable commentary, then about halfway round, usually around 11.30am, a stop is made where one can buy tea, coffee, cakes etc. This is always somewhere interesting - for example, it could be a museum, or a craft centre, or a farm, or a garden centre.

The National Forest is being established mostly in Leicestershire, but partly in Derbyshire and Staffordshire. Much of the area was once covered with coal mines, and it includes both Charnwood Forest and Needwood Forest.
