Visit to the Tates in London
I recently had the pleasure of visiting the two Tate Art Galleries in London, both the Tate Modern and the Tate Britain.
It was a familiarisation afternoon organised for group travel organisers by the management of the Tate, and was attended by a good number of people, mostly of course from the South East.
We first visited the Tate Modern on Bankside, where we were split into groups, to be given a brief tour by one of the resident in house guides, concentrating on minimalism.
Then it was refreshments. The coffee and cakes went down very well, and gave the chance for some chatting.
Next, we went on the Tate Boat, operated by Thames Clippers. This is a splendid way of getting from one gallery to the other, while enjoying the unique views of London from the River Thames.
Visiting the Tate Britain, I spent some time looking round the exhibition of works by the excellent John Millais.
Altogether, it was a very good day, and I thank the Tate management for arranging it.
